Does Coffee REALLY Give You More Energy

Does Coffee REALLY Give You More Energy...Ready for the SHOCKING Answer?

Cup of coffee

I'm betting that so many of you say the same thing: If I don't have my morning coffee, I'm no good to the world! Well, it's no secret that it wakes you up and gets you going. Now a friend of mine swears it gives him the energy he needs to take on the day. But I started to wonder if that was true. I mean, I know it's got caffeine, but does caffeine give you actual energy? So, I did some research and found some answers that might surprise you.

Drinking coffee buzzes your brain but does not give your body energy. Let me explain...The caffeine stimulates your brain activity creating a higher level of alertness which is why you feel more energized. Now calories are units of energy and coffee has very little calories, so again, your body is not getting actually energy as if you ate or drank something caloric. Wow.. ok, so what does this all mean.

Woman with coffee

Well, what coffee does is give you what's referred to as an “energy kick” which can be really good for you but doesn't give your body more endurance or strength. But believe it or not, coffee is actually considered to be a superfood that has a substantial amount of antioxidants. Studies have even shown that it can actually help those with dementia, Parkinson's, and Alzheimer's disease. Other studies have also shown it can actually make you smarter, be good for your liver, and reduce your risk of type 2 diabetes.

So, when you have a cup of joe, it's the neurotransmitter in your brain that becomes stimulated which again makes you feel more energized. Depending on the person, it can take anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes to kick in and can last as long as 12 hours. And 400 ml a day of it is considered to be safe for the average person.

Now, while it's considered really good for you, too much consumption can have the opposite effect. Too much caffeine can make you feel anxious and jittery and can elevate your heart rate. Too much can also lead to dehydration. And of course, if you have insomnia or anxiety, you may to stay away from it.

So, we say keep enjoying your super-drink oh lover of the bean. Your energy kick awaits!
